Meet Your Photographer: Dave Short
If you haven't guessed by now, I'm a Boudoir and Intimate Lifestyle photographer located in Raleigh, North Carolina. My images are raw, real, full of emotion and unapologetically you. I believe in taking a Body-Positive approach to my work and feel that being able to look back on your images and know that is how you really looked is important. We're not Barbie and Ken dolls and are skin isn't made of plastic; it has pores, wrinkles, stretch marks, etc. It's seen life and that's what makes you beautifully you. In a world of ever changing filters, my goal is to provide you with timeless images for you to re-fall in love with yourself, see that you actually are beautiful, and be more comfortable in your own skin than ever before.
Why Boudoir? A few years ago I had the chance to do a Boudoir Shoot with a friend and to say it turned out amazing would be far from the truth. I quickly realized how much of a challenge it is to shoot this style. In the months that followed, I had the chance to do other Boudoir shoots. Since I totally bombed that first shoot, I took those on because I knew that I could do a better job than that first one. Fast forward a dozen or so shoots and when I was showing the images to a client all of a sudden she said, "I can't believe that's my stomach!" The look on her face, the excitement in her voice, that newly found boost of confidence that suddenly appeared; I knew right at that moment that Boudoir was the direction to take my photography. To be able to bring that joy, confidence, and empowerment into someone's life through my photography is an amazing feeling. You might be told that you're beautiful all the time and you just brush it off as a nice compliment. Actually seeing that you truly are beautiful is something else all together! Let me show you how the world really sees you.
But wait, you're a guy! While it is more common to have a woman photographer since the industry dominated by female photographers, know that both male and female photographers aren't really looking at you. We are focusing on posing, lighting, emotion and your experience in order to create the best image possible. What's most important is that you find a photographer who makes you feel accepted, comfortable, and with a style you can't resist. My promise to you is that I will always provide a fun, safe, comfortable, and a completely professional atmosphere that will help us to create images that you will enjoy!
